TH: Film Openings- research

Domino (Scott, 2005)

  • From the first second of the title sequence we are introduced to the protagonist, a bankable star also Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Carribean).
  • We are immediately thrown into a fast paced thriller, with the dialogue seeming stressful and racing. From the outset we can tell this film is going to thriller, which is fast paced and full of action.
  • However I like how the music of the title sequence juxtaposes the previous idea, as it is slow and chilled hip hop giving the film an urban edge.
  • Another technique that adds to the unique and urban sense of the film is the transitions used in the title sequence, where we the audience are flipped between different pictures and shown the diverse cast, for example Mickey Rourke a famous action actor, whereas Keira Knightley is know for her intense dramas.
